Today a great reminder came from Bill Harrison, the founder of Reporter Connection: "Short attention span theater" is the self-description of one of the TV producers who attended our National Publicity Summit a while back. When emailing the media, try to keep your pitch to 5 or 6 sentences and you're more likely to capture the media's attention. How much information should you include in a pitch email? Send the essentials: your idea, credentials and contact information. A great concept and brief email will get them interested in you. When it comes to pitching, send the appetizer. Save the entree.
